More Than a Nurse: Finding Myself Through Travel

I used to think travel was something reserved for “someday.”

There is no time like the present.
There is no time like the present.

Someday when I had more money.

Someday when I had more time.

Someday when life slowed down.

As a nurse, my world often revolved around long shifts, missed holidays, and taking care of everyone else before myself. I loved what I did, but somewhere between twelve-hour shifts and charting past my shift, I realized I had stopped dreaming for me.

Then something shifted.

I booked a trip.

Not because it was the perfect time.

Not because I had everything figured out.

But because I was tired of waiting for permission to live the life I imagined.

That single trip changed everything.

Travel reminded me that I was more than my job title. It taught me that confidence isn’t something you magically wake up with. It’s built one unfamiliar street, one missed train, one solo dinner reservation, and one passport stamp at a time.

Over the years, I’ve learned that women often carry invisible suitcases filled with doubts:

Great coffee is a highlight for every trip!
Great coffee is a highlight for every trip!

“I don’t have anyone to go with.”

“What if it’s unsafe?”

“Maybe next year.”

“I don’t know where to start.”

I know those thoughts because I’ve had them too.

That’s why LIVE TRAVEL VIBE was born.

Women who said "YES" to themselves.
Women who said "YES" to themselves.

This space is for the women who crave adventure but aren’t sure how to take the first step. It’s for the women who have spent years putting everyone else first. It’s for the women who want to see the world and rediscover themselves along the way.

Through Live Travel Vibe, my hope is to create more than just vacations. I want to build a community where women feel empowered to explore, connect, and say “yes” to experiences they once thought were out of reach.

You don’t have to be fearless to travel.

You don’t have to have an unlimited budget, a perfectly curated itinerary, or years of experience navigating foreign countries.

You just have to start.

Maybe your first adventure is joining a group trip where you arrive as strangers and leave as lifelong friends. Maybe it’s finally booking that destination you’ve had saved on your vision board for years. Maybe it’s simply believing that you deserve experiences that light you up.

Whatever your version of adventure looks like, I hope you’ll find inspiration here.

We’ll talk about practical travel tips, navigating the world as a woman, balancing careers and wanderlust, destination highlights, lessons learned from the road, and the beautiful, unexpected ways travel can change us.

Work Hard. Play Hard.
Work Hard. Play Hard.

I’m still a nurse.

I’m still figuring things out.

I still overpack sometimes.

But I’ve learned that the world has a funny way of meeting us when we’re brave enough to step outside our comfort zones.

Discover new experiences and new friendships.
Discover new experiences and new friendships.

So here’s to the women chasing sunsets.

To the first-time travelers.

To the seasoned explorers.

To the ones who are finally choosing themselves.

Welcome to The Jetlagged Nurse's Blog.

Your next adventure might be closer than you think.

And trust me, it’s worth the jet lag.

xoxo Josie
